The system upgrade time only applies to the larger applications that report their size, each second program does not do it or does not do it correctly; So forget the value. ♪
What did you install on games like that on Steam?
No actually not really, definitely not in the GB range.
That’s hardly a significant amount.
The HWID of your motherboard is enabled at MS if you only reinstall Windows will remain enabled. Alternatively, you can also connect the activation to an MS account that you only need to log in.
If you want to find the files that eat the storage space, you’ll best take the Explorer on Windows and start first and see what size is displayed under right-click -> properties.
I would start with the folders:
Then you know how this divides between any files and programs approximately.
In Programs & Programs (x86), you can also view the program folders and see how it is distributed.
My Steam games are all on my other hard drive. But jap, I’m just looking at the folders. The only ones that really occupy space are Adobe and Microsoft.
How is the current division in GB between the mentioned folders:
Sure you wouldn’t. have you clicked?
That was then any Steam Workshop Content, e.g. Mods.
Oh, my God. That’s not to believe. I have over 20 games. All clean on my other hard drive. I see with TreeSize that something’s wrong. There is a file that is still on Steam\workshop\content blablabla. She’s called ChunkG0.bin and she’s fucking 40GB tall. Wow, that was a scavenger hunt to find them.
You can delete the more or less useless Windows 10 apps.
I like to keep the calculator, watch, cutting and sketching (snipping tool).
In addition, you can set the Windows recovery options slightly smaller. The standard is 5% or 10% of the data carrier.
You can move/copy/delete the update files in Windows directory
I finally found the nausea. Thank you so much and the super tools. With TreeSize, I could finally find the junk file.
And yes, I’ll get a bigger SSD.
On the second picture, is there still a long story or not?
Forget it, stands 17 GB
Try CCcleaner. Is free and deletes all the data left by old apps etc.
CCleaner is snake oil… clean up also goes with Windows means: Disk Cleanup.
Cache and that’s what I’ve done manually. If you really want to clean up thoroughly, unfortunately it is not free. But I’m just gonna do it. Thanks for the answer
Supplement: If you are in Ccleaner:
Scan/Browse Registry After Errors – then a menu opens where you select No – then there is something to clean up from mistakes or similar – to run for a second time.
You don’t have to look for ways to save space – your hard drive is just too small.
The plate (or better SSD) has just 128 GB. I usually use this to computers that use only simple programs (Firefox, M$ Office etc) and store their data only in the network drive. And even for this, this is a bit very narrow, which is why I now use 256 GB drives.
If you want, you can run the ” Disk Cleanup” (as a admin staror) and hook everything there. This then takes a relatively long time because a compirmation of the Windows updates is done, but you get a few free GB again.
Do you use all the programs? Currently, less to unused programs uninstall a roof.
You can also compress files by folder. Don’t really get anything. 120GB can no longer be enchanted.
External drive would be possible to store less used files.
I have an external hard drive where all my files, games and other programs are on it. I really only have the programs on the SSD. But yes, I guess I need a new SSD…
I use the program glary utilies.
I can recommend you.
is there an ordner windows.old? You can delete it using Properties ->.
Thanks for the tip. There are no such folders
Naja 120Gb are 2022 VERY little
Even my iPhone has more than double
in my pc are 2tb as ssd
You’re absolutely right. But I would only upgrade if I’m not in the exam phase and have someone who can reinstall my PC on a new SSD. So I need a solution with this 120GB first.
that will be hard windows can be very good on such small disks
Try to catch treesize because thick fish 🙂
if possible equal to m.2
I have for example the samsung 980 per with 7 gb/s that is extremely fast
you blink once and the startscreen is there…
I also liked to invest 300€
occupied völli problemfree 1.3 tb
Just saw that my hiberfil.sys file is simply 7GB. It must be. But yes, to finally see all this about treesize, opens my eyes. I’ll get a new hard drive for the system!
