How can I prevent Apple Mail from flagging spam?
I'm having a problem where some spam is flagged with a red flag and thus filed under "Flagged" instead of just "Spam." This is pretty annoying because when I delete directly from the "Flagged" folder, I sometimes accidentally delete important emails that I've manually flagged. Once they're deleted, they're still displayed there, albeit grayed out, since they're in the trash. How can I disable this so that they're always filed directly with the flagged emails?
With Apple Mail it may happen that emails are automatically marked with a red flag, which leads to the problem you described. Here are some steps you can do to fix the problem and make sure spam emails are not automatically marked:
1. Check and disable rules
1. Open Apple Mail.
Two. Go to “Mail” in the menu bar and select “Settings”.
3. Go to rules.
4. Check all the rules you created and make sure that there is no rule of spam emails with a red flag. Deactivate or change corresponding rules if available.
Two. Remove markers manually
1. Go to the spam folder.
Two. Select all emails that were incorrectly marked with a red flag.
3. Right-click on one of the selected emails and select **”Marking” > ” Remove Marking”.
3. Check whether third-party plugins are involved
Sometimes, third-party plugins or extensions can automatically mark emails.
1. Go to “Mail” in the menu bar and select “Settings”.
Two. Go to “General” and check whether plugins or extensions are enabled there.
3. Disable suspicious plugins or extensions to see if this fixes the problem.
4. Apple Mail Reset
One way is to reset Apple Mail to ensure that no hidden settings or configurations cause the problem:
1. Close **Apple Mail**.
Two. Go to Finder and choose Go to Folder
3. Enter `~/Library/Mail` and press Enter.
4. Secure this folder to another location (for example on the desktop).
Five. Delete the content of the `Mail` folder (this will reset your email settings, make sure you have backed up all important data).
6. Open Apple Mail again and redeem your account.
5. Contact Apple Support
If the problem continues, it is advisable to contact Apple Support to get specific help for your problem. It could be a deeper problem or bug in the software that can be fixed by an update.
These steps should help you solve the problem and prevent spam emails automatically being marked as marked.
