How is it possible that Jack Gleeson (Joffrey) (Game of Thrones) was never nominated for an Emmy?

I thought Gleeson played Joffrey brilliantly. The character evoked so many emotions in viewers that he received numerous death threats and was reportedly attacked by fans of the show. I mean, for someone to play a character that people associate with the real Joffrey speaks volumes.

When I watched the show, I always thought Gleeson was so good at making you hate his character. He could be so threatening at times, but he still acted like a bitch when someone else put him in his place.
