Why the numbers in the name? They don’t really make sense. There is no 2nd C atom on which the residues could hang. The name butylpropylether would be clear enough. Finally, this is only one oxygen atom on which a butyl group is attached on one side and one propyl group on the other.

So exactly the name as you wrote it? That would be a wrong nomenclature.

Your half-structure formula contains five- and three-binding carbon atoms… You can’t do that with the keyboard.

The ether sought consisted of the two alkanes (butane, propane) which (of course, with elination of one H) are connected at their respective second carbon atoms to an O as ether bridge.

Or, other attempt: CH3-CH2-CH(CH3)-O–CH(CH3)-CH3, each with a methyl group at the fatty C.

This name does not exist in reality! I.e. there is simply no connection that could be called as standard.

Perhaps the isobuty-isopropyl ether should be, and a super-fed teacher has wanted to be dictately valuable and has failed
