I had learned to crochet with a 4mm needle. I don’t know the yarn thickness at that time.

At the beginning, an eight-fold cotton yarn (=pot flap yarn) with the needle mentioned is a good combination. The first exercise object is already in the yarn designation ;–)

With air stitches, fixed stitches and a few warp stitches you can make good pot flaps if you can use climbing air stitches and around-the corner hooks. Make the pot flap big enough that even large hands are protected and avoid holes, except the hanger on a corner.

I wish good success.

On request, there is the “recept” to my cupcake.

I learned to crochet from my grandma at 6. Best you buy a “normal” wool that you can buy almost everywhere and as a needle strength I would take a 3.5 or 5 for the beginning.

Whatever works you buy a thick wool and then a thick sewing dadel 6 or something.

On each wool, however, the needle thickness is required.

To learn, there are a lot of YouTube videos or you ask any relatives or friends who can crochet.
