How exactly do you push the car/start it in second gear?

Hello folks:)

My car battery is dead and although I've watched a few YouTube videos about it, I'm still unsure.

So: If I push a car with a dead battery in 2nd or 3rd gear, the person in the car has to release the clutch quite quickly as soon as the car has been pushed a little.

…Don't you have to press the clutch again immediately to prevent the car from stalling? Or, how quickly after the engine starts should you press the clutch again?

Many thanks and kind regards

You push the car, best to several (because it needs some speed). One sits in, puts in the second gear and pushes the clutch.

Then you push so fast you can, best on over 10 km/h. Then the driver releases the clutch (at the moment the engine is likely to brake very strongly, but it is so good to push!) and then turns the key immediately. Then give gas and go.

We used to do that with a car that was hopeless. Whether it’s the best tactics on an empty battery, I’m not so sure…

Yes as you have described it yourself. When the engine is on the clutch immediately

Right,

I would like to say that I have never tried it before, but as a rule, the clutch is completely released and goes through immediately. You want to put as much speed into the engine as possible and if you don’t pass the clutch right away, the car will brake the engine again.

In addition, it is of course necessary to turn the key when releasing the clutch so that the motor also wants to start.

Generally, however, it is easier to ask a neighbor or to ask if he can help for a short time. Please make sure that both cars work with the same battery voltage when bridging! If you bridge 12V with 24V, you will shoot any electronics and that will be really expensive. In addition, it is advisable to let the car run, which is to be bridged. Then you have a little more juice and don’t suck the other battery.

It’s coming to the car for the first time. Not every car can be “shifted” nowadays.

The car should not be stopped immediately. Ideally, you will first drive a turnout without turning off the engine. Go straight after the successful pushing.

But starting aid is always better and more simple.

Hello

If the battery is empty, it won’t go that way, you’ll need starter.

In the dispenser vehicle, let the motor run so that the battery is not emptied, giving some gas during the start-up attempt.

The red cable first connects to the positive pole of the battery on the dispenser vehicle and then to the positive pole of the battery on the receiver vehicle.

The black cable first connects to the dispenser vehicle at the negative pole and the other cable end in the receiver vehicle hangs to an iron part in the engine compartment (in the case of exiting gas from the battery, an explosion could occur due to a spark when clamped to the battery)

Then start the receiver vehicle. After the motor has jumped, the starter cable has been clamped for a short time.

The black cable first clamps on the receiver vehicle then on the dispenser vehicle. Then clamp the red cable on the receiver vehicle and then dispenser vehicle

The started vehicle then drive about 20-30 Km so that the battery is properly charged, while if possible large consumers such as rear window or seat heating switch off.
