How to transfer a purchased vehicle?
Hello, maybe you have an idea.
I have found a car for myself, if it fits, I would buy it, but :
The car is 300 km away from me, has a MOT, and is roadworthy. Is there a solution to only drive there once and take the car with me? Instead of making two trips?
Of course, I would like to take a test drive and look at the car first, then take it with me and drive back.
The owner does not want to give me the license plates for the transfer (I would not have done that at 300 km and with a stranger)
So I have to get transfer license plates (the ones with yellow stripes).
He has to deregister the car for that, right? And with a deregistered car, you can't test drive it, so I have no choice but to drive about 4 hours there and 4 hours back, look at the car, test drive it, if I like it, leave a deposit, and wait until he deregisters it. Then, in the following days, drive 4 hours back to him with the temporary license plates, and finally, take the car home with me.
Is there a better solution? Just one round trip by car/train?
Rent a trailer for car transport – if you have the right vehicle, trailer coupling and the right driving licence.
So we always do this with our oldtimer tractors.
If he reports, you can get the short-term code. If you don’t buy why it’s always been for free, but you’d be able to make a test drive and take the vehicle if it likes right away.
Alternatively, only that he will let you make your test drive and then have to transport the part on a trailer without a license plate.
If you can take the first test drive and pay the car You can register it directly with the papers and if you do not pick it up any expensive U-marks.
You can also make transfer identifiers at the location of the seller, however, condition that the vehicle has to be reported immediately…
Car trailers are available everywhere to borrow!
