Well, one should, of course, first inform oneself about possible countries and consider oneself in which one wants to make a student exchange, then one is applying to an organization, hopefully accepted. Depending on the organization, you only have to do the bureaucracy (especially apply for a visa, medical examination and, if necessary, Vaccination, leave from school apply etc), or the organization also offers preparatory seminars where you get a bit to say, what you expect abroad, how to deal with certain situations etc. Mostly just before the planned departure you get the host family, the organization sends you the dates for the flight at some point, and at some point… is “Day X”. Then it comes to the organization again very much, some offer an introductory event before being sent to the host families.

Hello

a student exchange is a good idea. For this:

  • The purpose of student exchange is that you get to know another country, people, culture and language well. If that suits you, you should do that.
  • You go to school for a school year or at least several monantes in another country and live there in a host family or an internate
  • You leave your school for it.
  • You have selected more than 50 host countries worldwide in Asia, America, Europe
  • Financing is your family’s task. There are many savings and funding options
  • The costs are very different, depending on the host country, high school and exchange program. The range starts with additional costs, pocket money at just under 15,000 euros and reaches up to over 50,000 for a school year. The English-language goals are generally more expensive than Central and South America and many goals in Europe.
  • Among the English-speaking destinations, the USA Classic program is the most affordable. You can find details in this Blog post
