All in all rightly won an Oscar, especially since he also won one of the few films about the 2. World War is where one is not permanently taught as a German.
I find the movie great & he belongs to my favorite movies.
But I’m counting on the film that he brought fresh wind to the genre of the Second World War. Because these films are often very generic & historical facts are simply prayed down. Jojo Rabbit is liberated from these conventions. He’s got the courage to bring in some humor, which is not humorous at all. Nevertheless, the subject is not relativized, but only illuminated differently.
Better than the book.
At Taika Waititi, however, would be a little less sometimes more.
