What do your parents think about anime?

I just wanted to conduct a survey to see if I'm alone in thinking that my mom thinks anime is just about puppets, which doesn't even make sense, since people watch anime on their phones or screens and think it's for kids, not adults, and they can't be convinced. What about you?

My parents can’t start with anime, it’s just not her, yet they’ve already seen the one or the other anime movie with me in the cinema.Suzume« even liked my mother.) My parents don’t criticize my hobby, they just can’t start with it. Like your mother, my parents prefer real series.

Fun Fact: In her childhood, my parents even had looked some anime, for example »Captain Future«, »The Little Princess Sara« and »Kimba, the White Lion«. (Old anime, but probably more like “normal cartoon” for you.)

If you’ve seen a series and know the content, you can let them walk while you’re not in the room.

If you see a series for the first time, however, the interest in it cannot be particularly great if you don’t even press “Pause” when you leave the room. Possibly, your mother just looks the series for entertainment so that she isn’t as boring as she might be otherwise busy?

Just get out of their negative talk about anime, if possible, don’t let it go. She doesn’t have to like/see anime. If she has no understanding of your hobby and finds anime doof, this is her problem, then she should think so .. Just try to ignore that. (Wouldn’t break a fight from the fence, not that she wants to get rid of you sometime. O.o.

My parents do not necessarily look at it as a bad thing, but they find it badly affects me as a student, you see it more so that it restricts the learning of a person, as animes are mostly very simple and do not really have a real use in the real world. However, they also have this opinion on other television shows and media that have nothing to do with the real world and should be more concerned with material texts and informative media.

However, it is not completely anti anime because it also has anime that it likes, most of which is restricted to Ghibli. She also meant that she liked anime as a child, but now it’s a bit different, but the old animes from her childhood still give her a bit of fun, but rather than a nostalgic memory, including Doraemon

They don’t care, and they can’t start with it, but I don’t think they think it’s “children’s stuff.” Better than if they forbid me (besides that I am growing), but actually it would be nice to have the same interests.

They’re looking at more anime with me.

Anime we have already looked:

  • Owari no Seraph
  • Your name
  • Haikyū!
  • Blue period
  • Bloom into you
  • A Silent Voice
  • Date
  • Blue Lock
  • clannad
  • Toilet bound Hanako-kun
  • The Promised Neverland
  • Demon Slayer
  • Blue Exorcist
  • Spy x Family
  • Toradora!
  • Japan
  • Assassination Classroom
  • Bungo Stray Dogs
  • Hunter x Hunter
  • Talentless Nana

And now we look Attack on Titan.

So my parents, especially my mother, know how diverse animes are. They could cost different genres.

Generally, my parents never had a problem with my hobby. You just liked that I was so fascinated by that and had fun.

2021 or so I started bringing a few series closer to them. There were animes that gave them more and those who had fallen less. And that’s normal.

My parents think Anime’s children’s series are because they only know Pokemon 💀

My mom thinks it’s either just about boobs or meaningless child stuff. Then I’ll watch anime without her.

KleeneFreche, UserMod Light

My parents know I look at anime or Manga lese. She could not inspire herself, but they say nothing negative about it. When I used to live at home as a teenager, they gave me stuff. support me with it and nothing badly done. Just in my big Pokemon phase (Have the doctor convinced to transfer my surgery so I can go to the Pokemon movie to the cinema)

In the past, they have not mixed up with the anime on RTL2. Especially the well-known classics from the series World Masterpiece Theater etc. When I started discovering other animes, I’ve lived alone. So it was never a subject, and it won’t be at my age (almost 40). I guess they don’t know the term.

In the beginning, I hid it, but then I just mentioned that. I was kind of uncomfortable. Otherwise my mother finds it quite interesting in itself, but that is nothing for her. Sometimes I hear something like “the japanese” or something like that of my father. So I’m honestly not so sure what they think about it.

So for my father, anime is just cartoon series and more he doesn’t think about it and my mother has already looked with me and found her well. My parents don’t care what I like.

As long as it’s not forbidden, they don’t mind. My mother even forced me to start an anime because I had badly talked about anime. She’s neutral to the subject, and my dad doesn’t like anime, but doesn’t mind that I’m looking at it.

Yep. I still have some. But it’s not as big as it was before. Found my stuff and now consume anime as much as Western stuff.

Yeah. I think so: anime is okay, but there are also a lot bad and a few things are really good. Just like our media in the West. With prejudice, I mean things like: “All say fairytale is bad so it is bad” or “the my hero academia foundom is toxic, so the series is also toxic.” These were examples now. I always have to be convinced to watch them. At my hero, for example, it worked. maybe at some point at fairytale, but I have to be convinced.

You always stand with me, no matter what. You know that every person likes something else and accepts it. 🙂

My mother and my big sister don’t like this at all, just because of the prejudices. But my father is quite open to that.
