Inspiration can be drawn from everything. Even from the game of light and shadow between pebbles.

Actually, you can be inspired everywhere. Sitting in a café for a few hours and watching people, shopping at the supermarket, at work…of course, even when you read books or watch movies, series etc.
Finally, you can find ideas for the plot and the protagonists everywhere.

But you have to keep your eyes and ears very open, so you get a lot.

I experience a lot in the profession, but I also meet so often curious people (naja, Berlin stop) and there are so many situations that are worth writing on (so always have a notebook). If you stay open, you see and find something everywhere.

Is “Fantasie Roman” related to fantasy, in the sense of elves, dwarves, etc., or purely invented real protagonists etc.?

Oh, there’s something to be sure about…when I see how some of them perform in the supermarket or in the café…*hust*, it’s likely that protagonists and suitable situations can be used very quickly.

Since many other good ideas are here, I would add Pinterest. Simply search Fantasy pictures/Fantasy aesthetic/Fantasy inspiration or writing prompts. There’s a lot to find.

Otherwise, as stupid as it sounds, read, read and read more. Or just start with a set and see what’s going on. It doesn’t have to be a novel, you can also start with many small short stories and only later start the right book, so I did.

Just stop in your environment, listen to conversations in the café, bus and train, etc., and maybe talk to friends who like to write or at least like to read.

You can also search for Fantasy Playlists on Youtube and Spotify, there is also a lot that can be inspiring.

And, no matter what, there’s always a notebook or at least your phone in it so that you can write up everything you like directly. It doesn’t have to be big, for example, I’ve completed a whole page with totally random adjectives that I snapped on that day.

I hope I could help with this 🙂

My experience is that you find hard ideas when you wait passively for them. It is better to actively deal with it. This goes for example through a mindmap, notes you create, etc. You just think and write everything you like. Then you can develop ideas more and more.

Besides, you should listen to his first intuition. Often it doesn’t work because one is too critical with his infestations and wants to achieve perfection. But that only prevents you and lets you discard the good ideas you already had. Listen to your feeling and try what’s already happening to you. It’s usually not that bad.

Otherwise you can consume other stories and look at one or the other. But just inspire, don’t copy, that’s important. You always have to use such ideas in a different way.

Always carry a small notebook specifically for this purpose with you. Go in gift shops, go for a walk, watch kids play, listen to epic music while playing and let your mind move freely.

Go out, sit in a café and watch the events. Take something to write with (either tablet or pen & paper) and note interesting, exciting things.

Let your imagination go.
