Hello

If the XMP cannot be activated in the BIOS/UEFI, as can be seen in the picture, the RAM modules do not bring XMP that could be selected and activated in the BIOS/UEFI. This is the case with standard RAM modules. An XMP that can be activated in the BIOS/UEFI will only bring XMP overclocking RAM modules.

The XMP is an MEM overclocking memory profile that is stored in the SPD chip (Serial Presence Detect) on XMP RAM modules. The JEDEC standard memory profiles are also defined. The JEDEC and XMP memory profiles are then used by BIOS/UEFI to configure the system for operation with the RAM modules used.

Attention, XMP is used for easy overclocking of the memory to be able to use higher storage speeds with cheaper RAM modules.

However, it can also happen that the memory speed set by the XMP goes beyond the processor specifications and this cannot work. This is because the storage speed is set in the processor and not on the motherboard and also not on the RAM modules. Because the processor thereby accesses the RAM at the set storage speed, this results only in the memory clock. Otherwise, RAM modules are neither self-clocked nor run independently with the set storage speed.

Since you didn’t write which processor you have and which motherboard, I can’t tell you anything exactly.

Mh, I’ve never had a gigabyte motherboard before, and on the stupid picture you see nix…

Look at the operating instructions.
