WHY IS TRAIN MORE EXPENSIVE THAN FLIGHT?

Hello dear community, I'm planning a four-day stay in Vienna and now I'm wondering: train or flight? When I was researching, I was surprised: €640 for three adults just for the one-way ticket?! And the round-trip flight costs €441?! How can that be? Thanks for the hopefully numerous responses!

I don’t know how to explain this, but keep in mind that you have trips from/to the airport plus any parking fees. In the case of train tickets, you should have indicated the return journey with you and then look at the total price as well as the savings prices in consideration. I also don’t know where you were looking and which airline has been specified, but I also know that flight bookings often have not been used to calculate the costs, which is usually in the small print. Read it carefully here:

I strongly recommend that you go to a “right” travel agency, compare all offers and book them there. Also to the advantages of booking via a travel agency there are massively reputable articles on the net to read.

Sure it can be. Why do everyone think the train must be cheaper? After all, you drive longer, i.e. the staff must also be available longer, etc.

I can’t imagine the price of the train when and from where to go to Vienna?

But it is clear that flying is cheaper than a train ride. This is usually the case with other routes.

Because the train unfortunately also needs longer! 😉 *gg* No, such things happen again and again – is unfortunately not to change!

The prices depend heavily on when you book, so how many days/weeks/months before and whether it falls on weekends/feetage. If you plan on time, you will get tickets for 60€ (Hin and Back). I flew 5x from Hamburg to Vienna last year and never paid more than 100€ (total). The train tickets can also be like this, I’ve always seen it for 120€ return journey.

Because the train is full and your ICE`s can be gilded. P.S: When it comes to money, look for the heel buses, which are currently breaking all prices.

They not only break all prices, but all speed records ;D

Because a train network is much more expensive in maintenance and competition is not as international as in air traffic.

Flying is cheaper and faster and even safer. There are more train accidents than aircraft accidents

However, the railway is more environmentally friendly 🙂
