Why is there no longer a direct connection in German public transport?

For some connections you have to take the next big train in one direction and then wait a long time at the station to be able to continue with another line

Although these are neighboring communities that can be easily connected by bus

Everyone would benefit if the starting town could provide many other small villages with better public transport.

Because you can’t drive from any place to any place. That would mean the traffic collapse. You can also not fly directly from Hannover to Timbuktu.

Germany builds cars. That’s why the ÖPNV is always on the back. This is different in other countries without a car economy.
