I'm no expert, but Wikipedia says the following:

The principle assumes linear relationships between the quantities to be superimposed. It is not applicable to nonlinear theories such as general relativity.

And that seems logical to me.

I think this is because if it is not clear where an object is located, it is not possible to say how (where exactly) it bends spacetime.

Wenn Du Dich auf Gravitationswellen beziehst, dann liegt das daran, dass die Wellen als Lösungen den NICHT-LINEAREN Einsteinschen Feldgleichungen genügen…
