Why is my SSD so slow?

Hey, I just did an update in Steam, now Steam only has to move 10 GB of data.

But it takes forever… My drive usage is only 10 to 20 MBs.

I have a WD Blue that goes up to 3599 MBs in Crystal Discmark.

Why is the SSD so slow when using Steam? It's taking me 10 minutes to download 10 GB, which could be done in a few seconds…

Thanks in advance 💪

It is clear that the source from where the data is to be copied/moved should be correspondingly fast? 😉

… which would be unrealistic for an HDD (especially the blue line).

OK – So you copy from SSD to SSD – most likely many smaller files (wheat when playing normal) and wonder that it is going slow.

For lay people: That's normal – it's like that.
You only get the maximum power if you move many large files (3-digit gigabyte range and higher) and the write cache on the target SSD has not been completed.
