Why duplicate debit card?
Hey-ho.
I'm fairly new to the banking world. When I decided to join Sparda Bank, I had the choice between the Sparda Bankcard and the Sparda Debit Mastercard. I simply chose both and now have two debit cards.
I heard you can do more with a Mastercard. So why do I have to do everything twice?
My experiences with the ING.
With the Debit Mastercard supplied as a standard, I can now shop on the Internet, for this not every store in the place accepts the payment (higher fees for the store).
That’s why I’ve rebooked the ING paid current card. It is accepted everywhere in trade, but not on the net.
Ah okay, have forgotten the mastercard court Germany again…
girocard only is quite rare. A lot more common in Germany is unfortunately Cash Only and no map of this world helps. In addition, girobums only works in Germany.
girocard is a German island system that so far used Maestro as Cobrand to work elsewhere. This is now going out and since then, the German banks are spinning on the wheel and experimenting with other cobrands like Mastercard, but they do not want to use it as a standard and therefore also make pure girocards that are pretty bad.
Banks operating their own ATM network or belonging to a network naturally have little interest in the fact that payouts to their own customers run at higher costs through the Visa or Mastercard system, which would be the case if they offered a pure Visa or Mastercard Debit as a standard card to the account.
If they would not make sure that money is still being used in Germany by their own bad products, it would be a good idea.
