Why doesn't the vehicle's actual width appear in the vehicle registration documents?

Because mirrors are basically only parts that can be exchanged theoretically. Comes more rarely in cars than in motorcycles, but is still possible.

Therefore, only the real width of the vehicle is indicated there.

The width to be indicated is defined in ISO 612 1978. Since it is an international standard and at the time of standardization in various countries there have been various regulations for mirrors (and to this day) and most models are sold in many countries, one has deliberately not oriented towards mirrors.

It’s so complicated and simple at the same time.

And tomorrow I will explain why it was sensible to prescribe the curvature of the cucumber across the EU… 🙂 (I can really justify it stringently).

There is no real reason, here “slope” the car manufacturers, even because of lack of regulations. It may be different dimensions due to features of equipment, but this is just a guess.

The driver is purely legal when he is allowed, for example, a section on the 2 meter width, his vehicle is 1.97m wide according to appearance, but has a realistic width of 2.04m. Injustice, but it is

It is a regulation of the EU. External mirrors can vary with the same model (degree of equipment) and the right outside mirror is not even a rule when it has an interior mirror.

There are even more such special EU rules. For example, the empty weight of a car is always included with 75 kg for the driver. No matter how hard the driver really is.

Applies in the EU. This is the case when an inner mirror can be seen in the rear without hindrance.

My old Japanese-Oldtimer had no mirrors. In Japan, that was not required. I mounted them later.

And countries other customs.

My 1986 golf 2 had a mirror on the left – and it was not even adjustable inside….

When the first Audi 100 with fully galvanized body came out at the beginning of the 80s, the one celebrated 0.32 CW value. But also only with the one left outer mirror

Because that’s what it’s like when you hit the mirrors!

When driving Caravan, the measure is still true because only the Actual Width changes!

You have already learned how wide a vehicle can be maximum, that sets the actual limits!

Because it is stupidly not prescribed… But the ignorance of some car drivers, especially in motorway construction sites, is indescribable, as on lanes with width limitations often enough cars that cross the vehicle width even without the exterior mirrors.

Drive once on the highway, you will experience it live … My car is already 2.045 m wide over the outdoor games, but there are masses of SUVs from Nobel manufacturers on the same track, which even without exterior mirrors are already much wider than I – with a permissible width of 2.1 m.

If required, it must be observed!

Therefore, in the case of cars with fixed trailer coupling, the length is different!

So this has nothing to do with “three times” because otherwise each of the sports mirrors would have to be applied because the width is no longer true.

because the mirrors are accessories. you have to pay attention and measure
