Why doesn't the phone ring when I call with a withheld number?

I'm asking on behalf of my elderly mother. Ever since she got internet access in her house (Unity Media – Vodafone), her Gigaset phone (on both devices) rings whenever there's a call with a withheld number or an unknown number; the phone no longer rings. She can then only see that someone has called in the next room, directly on the router/Gigaset box, because a light flashes.

I haven't been able to provide any more information at this point. Does anyone have any advice?

Thank you very much

I think the router is configured to automatically reject calls with suppressed identifiers. But I am almost sure that you can change this setting on the router’s web interface. Unfortunately, I don’t know what router your mom has – for example, I know best about FritzBoxen as I have used such devices for years.

there are often the settings not ring the phone when the number is suppressed.

this setting can be active in the router(menu) or on the phone itself.

you need to sit down and look at the router menu or/and phone settings

The vodafone may have set up a corresponding lock, but then the connection should not get to stand and your mother would not have a flashing info lamp.

So log in to the router and check the settings there. Is there a filter rule for unknown numbers?

Yeah, look in there. Or also in the settings of the phone itself. Some devices have such a filter setting.
