Why doesn't my Astra G get warm enough?

Hello dear community,

I have a problem with my 2002 Astra G Estate, 1.6L (engine: Z16SE). It only reaches 74°C or 77°C while driving (heating on/off). I've already replaced the thermostat. I also replaced the coolant temperature sensor. Both are OEM quality! I'm at a loss now and hope one of you can help me. Thanks in advance!

Kind regards, Johannes

For what temperature is the thermostat designed (how much degree should it open according to information)? This is indicated on the packaging and when buying on the website.

You mean he might have caught a "hotland performance"?

I think that's possible.

Either that (ie a component that opens earlier—in winter, if necessary too early), or just a defective sensor.

Why is my Astra G not really warm?

Thermostat has already been replaced by quality goods – good, I would have done so. And yet the temperature doesn't fit? That's weird, and it's a faulty sensor as a single check. To clear up the heating properly. Is it as warm as usual? If so, you have good chances that the sensor shows nonsense.

Speaking of nonsense: Unfortunately, this is also the answer here, for example the thing with the year of construction. The car can be as old as possible – everything is intact, then the temperature also fits. I guess that's just logic, but apparently I was wrong.

Just stay the thermostat. Apply to hot water and observe when it opens.

''Both First Equipment Quality!'' It doesn't mean anything anymore.

Which manufacturers have Do you have the parts installed or installed?

Should go. It was just an idea. How did you measure the temperatures? The display instruments are often only treasure irons.

Heating coolers rinse and descale. We've had the phenomenon too. Everything was also exchanged without remedy. Rinsing and descaling would have been enough.

In a free workshop, it costs €70.

The phenomenon too cold and then it helps to sprinkle the cooler? I doubt that. Lime is a heat insulator if the cooler does not work the water becomes warmer. The questioner's problem, however, is that it is too cold.

I can't imagine how to solve the problem

I don't know, but after the workshop did that, everything was good again. Previously, the thermostat was exchanged and various other things tested without success. As I said, I don't do anything myself on cars, everything has to work, and if the workshop tells me that, I have to believe that. And that was also done at low cost – from my point of view at least. In any case, it's hot again, that's what counts.

you asked, and that's the answer – okay? already what was said that parts might be faulty or inadequately installed?

This only reaches 74° or 77° C. during the journey (heating on/off)

Did you really measure the temperature or read only in the instrument cluster? The latter would be bad.

Water thermostat is no longer correct.

Probably

2002

A significant part of the problem.

I mean, aging and wear on such a vehicle don't pass without trace. That's a pensioner, there's always something else every day.

you don't seem to be quite in the thing… but not every day the same…

In the same place. With such a pensioner, something can always be broken, something else every day.

The thermostat is new, not year 2002. If the cooling system is OK, the car can also be 50 years old, which makes no difference.

2002

A significant part of the problem.

ahja… so… and where is a problem when it was in 1990?

Just drive until the car is magical.
