Why doesn't my PC recognize the Internet?

I recently rebuilt a PC and installed Windows on it. The Windows version is 10 Pro, and it's ancient. The problem is, despite trying a LAN cable and a Wi-Fi adapter, my PC doesn't recognize anything. It doesn't indicate that anything is connected, but I do have a LAN cable plugged in.

I would be grateful if you know more.

This can be a driver problem that solves Windows by itself if it somehow has internet.

To do this, connect your smartphone to the PC. You will then find USB-Tethering in the hotspot area and turn it on. Your smartphone must, of course, have the Internet so that it works.

Once a blue strip appears on the right of the PC screen, you allow the new network connection and your PC should be able to surf your smartphone.

Now you run all the updates you have for your PC. When finished, the WLAN adapter should also work.

Right mouse click on the Windows icon left below and open device manager. In the list, no exclamation marks may be seen. That would mean that drivers are still missing.

Wait a minute! If the LAN cable is defective, then nothing will flash at the connected port. Both at the PC LAN port and at the Router LAN port.

And something else! You cannot use the separate WAN port on the router. This is not intended for the client/user.

In this case, you need to go to the mainboard manufacturer’s website to find and download the drivers themselves. They are not in your case in the Windows update. And please describe what’s at the call sign. Of course, the best thing would be a picture. Is it a network adapter?

If necessary, you take a cheap smartphone and let it go.

Try using USB-thetering via smartphone and charging cable.

When it works, download the important things first and see if you can solve the problem

Did you install the drivers?
