Why does WhatsApp keep adding unnecessary features?

Another unnecessary feature for WhatsApp, I've had automatic updates disabled for 2 months.
Do they think they should become like Snapchat and then the customers will come in endlessly or what?
In my opinion, WhatsApp should simply be a messenger that uses as little storage space, RAM, and battery as possible. Soon, we'll probably see something like, "WOW, NOW YOU CAN EVEN PLAY PRE-INSTALLED WHATSAPP GAMES" or some other crap. What are they thinking?
And what do you think about it?

Therefore, it doesn’t matter what features they install, you just don’t use this messenger.
I also find unnecessary but battery does not consume it, that might need to tick more memory, for that you can delete an image from the gallery or something.
However, I did not find this with the avatar on my current Android-WA.
