The opinions go far apart. Some say that the rabbits would lick the salt from the skin. Others say that the rabbits make this of affection – as they also pick up their fellows.
Since my rabbits always scrape me and, if necessary, pick up my clothes in winter, I see this as proof that they do it out of affection.
But if the rabbit lives in individual attitudes, this is also proof of loneliness.

Mostly they do it out of affection, just as they do with their partners. Or they just want to take the salt off your hand.
