Why do data volumes have to cost money?

I mean, you already pay an average of €20-50 for the cell phone contract itself. So, to be fair, they can also give you unlimited data for free, right?

Hello,

you pay for the whole offer. In addition to the flatrates for telephony and SMS, a certain high-speed volume is included in normal rates. If you need more, you can pay more up to an unlimited rate. So according to supply and demand, everyone can get what you need.

Our prices and promotions are so priced that it is at least worthwhile for us, from an economic point of view.

You should not forget what you pay for such a mobile phone tariff: the included tariff performance, human and online service, roaming (use abroad), the use of various mobile radio technologies (4G/5G, WLAN Call, VoLTE) etc. pp. There are many different things.

Hello!

In itself a good question, considering that the throttling in the fixed-network area is much more rare. However, there are several reasons for the limited data volume.

The providers like to argue that overloading of the mobile radio networks is avoided by limiting the inclusive volumes. In this respect, there is also something to do with these shared mediums, so that the existing resources of a cell are divided into all the devices that are stored. If all terminals cause unbraked traffic, the load limit is reached faster.

However, it must also be said that in many cases users do not have to limit themselves even if they have a tariff with choke. Many contracts contain much more data than is actually required.

And last but not least it is possible to get an Unlimited dataflat from €15. For the mentioned €20 to €50 there are many products that come into question. Even below this price range there are a high number of tariffs for average demand, so there is hardly a lack of affordable and sufficient access for the mobile Internet.

Best regards

You pay according to the amount of data volume. I think it’s okay that you have to pay as you need.

If you pay 80 euros, then that’s the way… at least at Deutsche Telekom…

We noticed that this is possible without problems in August. Deutsche Telekom has doubled the data volume without wanting to have more money.

In May, I had increased from 10 to 20 GB. Unfortunately, 10 GB per month were not enough to navigate abroad. I need it two times a year. I still find it impossible that I cannot book a flexible annual quota.

Now I have 40 (!) GB a month, which is a madness. I never need.
