Why can the blue whale become more than 200 years old and we people not?

He can’t. A possible age of > 100 years is considered to be secured.

Animals live the longer, the less and the slower they move and the lower their heart rate. A blue whale heart beats with 4 beats per minute during diving.

Move slower, then you get older. Galappgos turtles are 150 years and older. Or put yourself in ice-cold water on the seabed without movement. Plums live several thousand years 🙂

“The scientist Jeffrey Bada from the Scripps Institute for Oceanography in La Jolla, California succeeded in determining the age of a harpooned Greenland whale for 211 years on the basis of an embedded eyeball of killed whales. This finding suggests that the significantly larger blue whale can reach an at least similarly high age, as there is an allometric relationship between body mass and life expectancy in mammals and birds. “

… suggests a similar age of life …

It’s a bit different from the statement “Blue whales are older than 200 years.”

Absolutely right. But I didn’t want to believe it myself and did a little research.

I think these sharks in the Polar Sea can get really old. I heard 500 years. They’re ice-cooled, they don’t spoil them so fast.

Individual specimens can become so old. Most of them, but they’ll be caught a lot earlier. Orcas have no problem attacking walkers that are bigger than themselves.

Normally about 80 years for people because cells no longer share or divide wrong. Turtles and crocodiles for 100 years!

Because a blue whale lives slower.
