Why can buffer systems only be made with weak acids and bases?

As for why buffer systems can only be created with weak acids and bases, I can say that weak acids and bases never completely dissociate and thus form an equilibrium. This equilibrium allows for buffering, which isn't possible with strong acids or bases.

Or is my reasoning wrong or is something missing?

completely correct! if strong acids/bases are used, the pH changes dramatically even at the slightest addition of acid/base – therefore weak Sren/bases are taken
