Why can a crack in the windshield only be partially repaired?

Last year, I had a stone chip on my windshield. I wanted to take it to the garage the next day to have it repaired. But overnight, a long crack had formed across half the window. This means the glass can only be replaced; it can no longer be treated with resin.

I still ordered a few packages of a product. It's a liquid that you apply to the crack and seal it. Many videos have shown this.

I was amazed when I saw that it worked at first. However, only in a few places. I pushed from the other side, and it worked a little better in one spot, but the crack was still visible 60% of the way through. The remaining 40% was completely invisible.

I wondered why the crack couldn't be completely sealed, and I remembered the videos where the cracks were always vertical, while mine was horizontal. I figured that was the reason.

When we got home from vacation, the window was completely replaced.

This flicker doesn't work. I let it go, and a few weeks later, the pane still cracked.
These glues in all honors, but they do not hold the pane together, the car disappears when driving and "cracks" – the crack is again greater.
That's why I can't get that crap out of my mind.
If stone strike, then it will remain so, and if necessary a new disc will come in.
I don't need such a puff.

Because of the tension in the disc. If the crack already wanders, then the stability of the pane is so over that cracks cannot be worn, as the tension is out of the glass

A crack can no longer be repaired, because the pane must be replaced.
