Why are used Cisco switches so cheap?
I bought a Cisco switch (Cisco catalyst WS-C3750X-48PF-S) for a discount of €200 to €50. The offer didn't look scammy or anything and the tracking information shows that it's in Germany.
Since I bought this switch, I've been getting more and more offers for cheap Cisco switches and one in particular caught my eye, a 64 port 2U 40gbit qsfp+ port switch for 200€ and I've seen videos from STH or Craft Computing about budget 25gbit switches for around 800-1000€ and that can't be real, but the seller is also verified.
Maybe the switch on the offer is faulty.
Old switches are no longer supported by Cisco and can't handle new iOS features, which is why they're so cheap. I have 3700 switches myself, all fully functional and they cost less than €30 each.
Well, since they no longer receive support and companies have to meet certain criteria for certification, they are usually replaced immediately.
For normal people, these are often oversized, loud, and consume too much power. Supply and demand determine the price.
So what do you expect a 14-year-old Switch to cost used?
No, the 40gbe switch
Yes, he will be about the same age.
