I've noticed that many train conductors have different whistles, even within Deutsche Bahn. Are the train conductors provided with the whistles, and is it just one model, or are they free to choose?

The SchönerTagTicket NRW states: "With the SchönerTagTicket NRW, you can use all local trains of all railway companies and all integrated transport systems (S-Bahn, U-Bahn, trams, buses) in North Rhine-Westphalia." Does that mean you can use everything except IC and ICE trains? So, you can use Eurobahn, NordWestBahn, etc.?
