Which train ticket is best for me?
Hello everyone,
I'm wondering which train ticket I should take. I study in Weiden, but still live in Regensburg, so I have to commute 70km. Since OTH AW unfortunately doesn't offer a semester ticket, I'm looking to you for help. Do I have to cover the entire cost myself?
Yeah, you have to. However, as a student, you are entitled to buy reduced student month cards. Weiden is in the RVV price level 10, so the card costs €237.40 per month. https://www.rvv.de/Verg%C3%BCase rates-f%Cr-Sch%C3%BCler and trainees
By the way, it is not only 70 km from Regensburg to Weiden, but more than 85 km.
In your place, I'd think about moving to Weiden. Although a WG room may cost more than the monthly ticket in Weiden, you don't have to spend two hours on the train every day and participate in the student life in Weiden quite differently.
Is there a choice on this route between railway tariff and RVV tariff? Or is it wrong to show a composite tariff on bahn.de?
I don't know. You should probably get into the depth of tariff conditions to get this out.
It's actually like this:

As a student, you can use reduced student time cards.
To do this, you need an authorization card with a confirmation from the university:

Prices are 80.10 euros for this route (if I have researched it correctly) for a weekly ticket, 252.80 for a monthly ticket or 206.70 euros for a monthly ticket in the subscription.
The subscription order form is available here:
