Which mineral feed provides the best zinc and selenium?

I have two sport horses. Until now, I've been feeding Marstall Force, and their blood counts have always been optimal. However, recently, their selenium and zinc levels have been somewhat low. They're thoroughbreds, one with PSSM and ECVM.

Tips?

I would like a mineral feed that covers everything 🙂 *dream*

Well, there are many much higher quality Mifus than Force.

However, these should be suitable for your hay. You can find out roughly what is in your hay based on the average values of the Lufa, for example.

With these values, you can then either search for the right food yourself or contact a nutritionist.

On the website of the Animal Science Institute of Conny Röhm there is a database with feed advisors

We like to feed Bodyguard from St. Hippolyt at PSSM. Otherwise, depending on the horse's deficiency, you can feed it with supplements. It's annoying, but this way you can determine exactly how much of what your horse is getting.

I wouldn’t recommend this without a professional feeding plan.

By sublimating individual feeds, you can cause serious imbalances that are very difficult to get under control again.

In addition, transport aids, such as vitamins, are always needed to get the individual substances into the storage depots.

That's why I would always seek qualified nutritional advice and discuss the whole thing with your vet! I completely forgot to mention that.

Well, then I'm glad it's different with ours! Hmm, that's a real shame, considering that feeding is such a big factor for the animals' health.

Most vets have no more knowledge about feeding than Ließchen Mayer

First, feed them separately and specifically. I'm a fan of the mineral from iWest, and our local farmer's market has a mineral mix tailored to our soils.

Feed selectively and also look at why it is so low.

Zinc is supported by galvanized fence elements and galvanized drinking troughs.

You can also feed sunflower seeds with their shells. It's better than any factory-made additive.

for the selenium brewer's yeast.

There is so little selenium in brewer's yeast that it is undetectable.

Zinc over fence elements or drinking tubs 😂😂😂

100g of sunflower seeds contain 5.7mg of zinc.

In simple terms, the horse needs 1mg of zinc per kg of horse.

So a 500kg horse needs 500mg of zinc.

The zinc in sunflower seeds has poor bioavailability due to phytic acid.

So yes, feeding sunflower seeds is just as productive as the tip with the fence elements.

I used to enjoy feeding Lexa's Amino Herbal Mineral.

Since I now feed a herbal muesli that also serves as Mifu, I no longer need additional Mifu.
