I couldn’t find any hardware for the Stage Manager on Mac. Since the function came with MacOS 13 Ventura, this is the only precondition.

With regard to performance, there are also differences to iPad.

A Mac was previously designed for many windows (programs) in different sizes. Also, depending on Mac, several external screens are supported. The Stage Manager on Mac simply changes window management.

With no Stage Manager, a maximum of 3 apps are possible at the same time. 1x left, 1x right and 1x flying over the other apps. Stage Manager allows 4 apps. 4 active apps may need a bit too much CPU power or RAM capacity.

The major limitations of the Stage Manager on the iPad are also connected to an external screen. With external screen, even 8 apps can be opened simultaneously. So 4x on iPad and 4x on external screen.

Even if the older iPad already supports external screens, it is still a difference whether or not the screen is mirrored. a simple media playback takes place or 4 more apps run there.

A little artificial limitation will certainly still be in play to guarantee a liquid experience.

This for a short trip to the Stage Manager on iPad.

All who have macOS Ventura or newer, with macOS Sonoma new features have been added, whether they are all supported I don’t know, but I don’t know why they shouldn’t be supported. Isn’t that kind of an act now.

For the Stage Manager you do not need an M processor, the iPad Pro 2018 with A12X supports this, for example, only without an external screen.

Yes, at iPads already, will probably need too much power to display several apps simultaneously. But on PCs this is more a standard function, only usually you only have the normal task bar.
