Which format for USB stick?

Hello,

I wanted to delete my USB flash drive. When I delete it, Disk Utility (on my Mac) asks me to format it. But which format is the right one? I want the drive to be recognized by both Windows and Mac computers, so everything works perfectly.

Please help!

If you want to run on macOS and Windows, take FAT32, which fits.

The only “subsequent” is that you cannot save a file that is more than 4GB.

Jep, it’s been running out of trouble for 10 years.

Fat32 (if you want to save data <4gb per file) or exfat

But what you’re doing is to delete the USB stick, although you probably just want to delete the data on it.

I’m guessing.

You should just delete the data on the USB stick.
