Which external hard drive is right?

I'm looking for an external hard drive because I want to replace my aging all-in-one (7 years old and running Windows 10). I want to save the existing data and transfer it to a new PC. With all the data (and programs) I have on it, I don't want to lose any of it.

I am now looking for a course of action on how to proceed (correctly!!) to avoid chaos and data loss.

The question also arises when buying new:
on-site with support
or (certainly cheaper) online.

Has anyone already had experience with this?

I am really grateful for constructive suggestions.

If you have many data, I even recommend a NAS server with high-quality HDD’s.

The transmission would be simple.

Connect your hard drive to the PC, connect to the NAS server via its software, and let it be transferred. If he’s done, check if everything has arrived.

If this is the case, you can safely scrape the hard drive.
