Which audio recorder for continuous recording lasting several hours?

Hello,

I'll be recording a few small concerts this summer and would like to buy a recorder for a maximum of €100-150 (used is fine), which I can connect to an AUX output on my mixing desk and just let run the whole time.

Powering it with an AC adapter wouldn't be a problem, so the battery is secondary, but the recording would have to be continuous or at least without any gaps. The recordings will last about 5 hours, and MP3s are sufficient in quality (at most, they'll work on YouTube). XLR would be fine for the connection, of course, but that's probably not within the budget, so a jack will also work.

Anyone with experience with this and can give me some tips? Thanks 😉

Greetings

I can ZOOM H2n recommend. It can record with a 32 GB memory card by 8 hours in MP3(320 kpps). The sound quality is excellent. As a power supply, however, you need a power supply because after about 3 hours of recording the batteries should be empty.

Yes. He splits the recording into 2 GB large files, but continues to record.

Seems to be a super recorder. It also works with SDXC cards up to 1 TB. That’s enough for several days. The increase of this is then only the H4E with 4 instead of 2 tracks.

It may be that there is a gap of 50 – 100 ms. But I was wrong. With 320 kbps, the 2 GB ranges for about 10 hours or longer. That should be enough.

buy a recorder for a maximum of 100-150€ (also used), which is connected to an AUX output of the mixer

Actually, this is even the worst of all the possibilities you have available (because mono). Today, there’s a USB stick you put in the mixer.

Do you know what mixer is available? Then you could also make multitrack recordings and just need a computer.

I only know it with a band, there’s a Presonus Studiolive

Oh, yeah, it’s multitrack.

but others also have simple analogues.

Hm, okay. Sounds more like smaller numbers where drums are not even removed. Then there would be a recording device with room micro. the zoom H1.

It is often just that concert recordings only with the stereo sum of the desk then simply don’t sound good enough as live on site.
