Where do you get your iPhone apps from?

Apple now allows iPhone users ( only in the EU ) to use app stores other than Apple's own. Do you welcome this, or do you consider it a security risk? https://www.tagesschau.de/wirtschaft/technologie/apple-epic-appstore-fortnite-100.html

Are alternative app stores safe for the iPhone (in terms of malware), or do you prefer to be cautious? Do you remain loyal to the Apple App Store, or do you prefer "third-party" app stores? If so, why?

The only ones who see a security risk are Hardcore Apple fans who believe each of Apple’s words on Twitter and think they are forced to download any insecure apps.

The alternative apps stores that exist must be approved by Apple and play according to Apple’s rules. So the alternative app stores are simply the Apple App Store with other names, a required subscription and a few apps that you would only get in the USA.

The only security risk comes if you would sideload even apps from insecure sources, which can’t make everyone. But whoever does this is himself guilty. Just like you would be guilty if you were to install unsafe apps in Windows or MacOS.

I don’t care about alternative app stores. So far, no one has come to my attention. And I doubt whether it’s “alternatives.” Interesting for me would be just like f-droid.

I’m trying to dispense with apps. You don’t need an app for everything. Many things are easier in the browser.

If I really need a new app, I’ll find it in the AppsStore. If not, I don’t need them. 🤷

Of course, it is not a risk as long as you install trusted apps. Especially since all must be notarized by Apple. But I would use it only if I wanted to install an app that does not exist in the AppStore or if it had more functions outside the AppStore or would be significantly cheaper.
