Where can I get my car checked?

Hello

I don't know where I can have my car checked, ie for wear parts, timing belts, V-belts, shock absorbers, etc., because I often hear that many workshops either don't check properly or try to rip off the customer and suggest repairs that aren't necessary.

I don't have a regular workshop for this because I recently moved.

Who can you recommend?

Thank you in advance!

Ask your friends/acquaintances where they go

Go to the authorized dealer, they know exactly where to look.

I cannot recommend ATU.

Which doesn't mean that they do it.

But freelancers often don't even know it and therefore couldn't look even if they wanted to.

It just depends on what you expect and what your own car and your own safety are worth to you.

An average service with delivered engine oil costs me €250-300 at my Toyota dealer. I can't get it cheaper anywhere 🤷🏻‍♂️ And I have a one-year, genuine warranty. Unfortunately, it only runs until mid-2025…

As I said, to each his own. A good feeling is worth something.

My 2010 Avensis has only ever been to the Toyota workshop since I bought it over 14 years ago, but I also do minor repairs myself. Since Toyota offers the Relax Warranty (up to 15 years or 250,000 km), I'd be foolish to go anywhere else. And Toyota isn't as expensive as many claim. I know many that are significantly more expensive, like Ford.

Well, what the driver wants is basically an inspection, and most independent dealers can perform that according to the manufacturer's specifications. I've been having it done at Pit Stop for a long time, as soon as the warranty expires. It's easily two hundred euros cheaper than at MB. They also include a mobility guarantee and a free loaner car, and I haven't had any reason to complain yet. But to each their own. A good feeling is worth something.

He is not interested in things like V-belts or timing belts
