Basically, you can only change or deposit coin money at your account-leading bank if it offers it. Banks generally refuse to accept coins from foreign customers. Free and for everyone it goes to branches of the Deutsche Bundesbank. There are also paid offers, such as the Coinstar machines in many supermarkets.

All banks do that, but usually for a fee.

The Bundesbank exchanges for free.
