For some time now, I haven't been able to see any png images on WhatsApp desktop or on my phone. It always appears as an image – open or save –
jpg and jepg work without problems.
I have enabled show all media on my phone.
Has anything changed or do I need to set something specific?

Image data (if selected via the gallery or camera function) are always converted into a .jpg file and converted. You can send a PNG file without further compression as a file attachment.
If you get a PNG file, it was most likely also sent as a file. If not, the problem is more about the transmitter.
