WhatsApp chat from old phone?
Please only reply if you actually know if this works! I have a new phone, and unfortunately, not all of my WhatsApp chats transferred from the old one. Unfortunately, I do have a note chat (empty group) where I wrote down important things, which I can no longer access. My question is, does anyone know if the chats are still on the old phone? Or will everything be overwritten when I open WhatsApp again? Thanks in advance for any tips! 🙂
Yes, don’t worry, there are good chances that your chats are still stored on the old phone. Here’s how to proceed:
1.Checking Chats on Old Phone:
Open WhatsApp on your old phone and see if the chats are still there. As long as you have not created a new backup or the app has not been completely uninstalled, the old chats should still be available.
Two.Use local backup (for Android):
WhatsApp defaults to local backups on your phone. You can find it in the File Manager WhatsApp > Databases. There should be files like msgstore.db.crypt14 or similar with date entries. You can use them to transfer the chats to the new phone.
3.How to Transfer Chats to New Phone (Android):
• Copy the msgstore.db.crypt14 file from the old cell phone to your new one (by USB, cloud or directly via cable).
• On the new phone you install WhatsApp, but do not open the app directly.
• Move the file to the folder WhatsApp/Databases on the new phone.
• Then start WhatsApp and it should automatically offer you to restore the backup.
4.iPhone:
For iPhone, there are no local backups, because everything runs through iCloud. Here you should check if there is an older backup in the iCloud.
Important: When you open WhatsApp on the old phone and create a new backup, it could overwrite the older data. So first, secure everything.
Hope you can keep it!
Thank you very much!

Log in to your old cell phone again, the chats are back there. Then make a backup and then load the backup to the new phone
