A WhatsApp contact told me that his photo, status, and last seen aren't visible because his SIM card isn't in his phone. The contact is from Colombia and plans to buy a new card here in Europe later.
I checked it myself and my photo and all information do not disappear when I remove the SIM card.
Has this person changed something in their privacy settings so that they are no longer visible to anyone but me?
Messages can be sent and received, I wanted to find out more about this first.

Maybe he saved his contacts not on the phone, but on his SIM card. Now he has removed his SIM card and you are no longer in his contacts, so you may not have access to profile image, status, etc. if he only shares it with his contacts.
This is possible, but that would surprise me if he left without his contact list.
