What would happen if an airplane flew into a supercell?
This is not a normal cloud. And let’s assume that a tornado is currently wreaking havoc under the supercell. Would it then rotate as fast as the tornado inside the supercell?
And what are the dangers of flying into supercells or similar, apart from visibility problems?
The main problem in a supercell is the extremely strong rise of up to 100 m/s. If a plane comes into such a field of wind, it will be abruptly torn up… Now, in a super cell, this upcoming disappears with strong disappearance. The plane is quickly brought to its load limits. Blitzschlag is less the problem because aircraft against EMPs are relatively safe from the outside. The icing should also not be a problem because most aircraft that can fly so high that they can penetrate into a super cell have an anti-Ice exposure.
The 2nd biggest danger holds the hail!!!
In the interior of each whirlpool it is almost windless and there is a vacuum, so it is quite quiet in a whirlpool, to come in is connected with huge turbulent, but possible, a normal traffic airplane could carry various damages from it
In addition to the visual problems, there would be hail, icing, flashing and, above all, wind shears. Even “normal” thunder cells can produce such extreme winds and winds in their interior that a commercial aircraft can thus be overwhelmed in terms of performance and structure. There are also suspects that one year ago the AirFrance crash was due, among other things, to a strong thunderstorm that almost broke the plane in the air. Active thunder cells are therefore always avoided if possible.
Flying into a supercell does not, therefore, according to my knowledge: hail flyers remain below the cells and research flyers fly more often in hurricanes than directly in tornado cells.
the super cell does not rotate like the Tornardo. The tornado is just an appearance due to the air disturbances around the cell. If a plane enters the cell, it will probably get the usual difficulties. So visual problems, danger of lightning, wind influences, hail, etc. But as much as I know, there are airplanes with which such supercells are repeatedly flown through with intent.
There is a special flying squadron in the United States that deals with research into hurricanes. They have special planes with which the hurricanes also fly in.
everything can happen but the most buzzing that plane crashes.
but who is so stupid and flies in so ne cell in xD
