What to do if the C drive is full?

I've had the same computer for seven years. For a while now, I've been having a recurring problem where the main drive where Windows is installed is full. I've deleted everything I can (including TreeSize, etc.), but it's not getting any better. What can/should I do now? Can I simply replace the hard drive?

I suspect that you (C:) have encased gameplays of your used games.
Solution the problem: Buy a larger disk, best install a SSD and reinstall Windows and the desired programs/apps.

However, if it is your own files, such as images, documents, videos, etc., it is possible to shift them to a second hard drive. It’s pretty easy. – See:

Just buy one

Yes of course, they can exchange but it is unnecessary to put one in the pc.

Then you can copy everything from c to d or make c free from your personal kram.

Because you choose the running gear yourself….

and yes you can install program on d but you have to change the ordner path when installing

it is not about their size but their writing and reading speed for the operating system

It is also not necessary, but you can set if you load something down where it should be stored in the browser

you can also set when you install where to install

And of course you can also get a completely new large hard drive, but had to first install windows dfrauf or clone with the hard disk.

By the way, you can’t even take the windows over, which sparks otherwise.

windows can stay because you can use both hard drives

c for windows d for the rest

finished

it will take what is faster for system

Yes, either exchanging an additional or a larger one

How big is the hard drive? Of course, you can exchange them against a larger one. Personally, however, I would use a hard drive C: for Windows and maybe some programs and another for all other data. Also games are not on drive C:

Yes well, 128GB for Windows and n few programs, since the place is quickly used up. It’s a ssd and it’s as good as full often the speed. Maybe there would be a 512GB or 1TB. Costs no longer the world. The old one could be on the new clones, is the least effort. But if the system is as old as the PC, maybe a fresh reinstall would not be a bad idea

You can also activate drive compression in the drive properties. Mostly the relatively large storage space is free.

Either you clone the data on a larger drive and build it,
or you are building a new, bigger one and start new ones.

How big is your current record and what do you have for apps that limit the place so massively?

Maybe even look at the workflow, which can be improved there to not always limit the OS record.

joa, 128GB nowadays are little for Windows and a few apps.
You should think about something new, bigger.

1TB SSD costs around 70€

Clean up disks with system files.

You got a C drive?

If no and there are also Laufwer D, then mark files from C and drag them over to drive D.

If so, buy an extra drive.

But PS:

With a 7-year-old PC, you might think about replacing it with a newer model!

You buy a bigger hard drive and just clon it…. 🙂
