What to do about night blindness?
Since my eye surgery, I've been struggling with extreme night blindness and don't know what to do. I've already talked to my ophthalmologist about it, but she either doesn't understand what I mean or thinks it's not that bad. However, it's really limiting me now/is a danger. For example, I almost fell down a flight of stairs the other day. What saved me was that the stairs only had four steps, and I was just barely able to catch myself. I don't even dare to go to evening activities anymore, which I used to do a lot. Flashlights aren't very helpful; they're not bright enough…
My question: Is it time for a cane? (My ophthalmologist said there are no treatment options for night blindness.)

Your ophthalmologist already understood what you meant by night blindness; ophthalmologists can diagnose it with an examination. And she could have recommended night driving glasses. I recommend you ask your local optician for more information. Here's a helpful link for you ->

Thank you🙂
With pleasure. Don't put it off any longer; go to an optician and get some advice.
Sounds good. Thanks🙃
Any other ideas?
No, unfortunately not. The most you can do is ask Google. Maybe the internet knows more.
Unfortunately the stairs were outside…😕
There are flashlights that are extremely bright. You have to look at the lumen count. Regular ones have around 500 lumens. Buy one from eBay or Amazon with 5,000 or 10,000 lumens. That's incredibly bright.
