What should you study if you like bioscience and are practical?
hey
I want to study Gerbe, but I don't know what. Originally, I really liked dentistry, but I don't have the required entrance qualification for it. So, what can you study with a 2.0 Abitur (high school diploma) if you like biology and enjoy practical work (preferably with organisms, not technology)? The only problem is that although I took biology, and even the written exams except for the last semester, it wasn't a subject for my Abitur exams, as I realized my interest in it a little too late.
When studying, you should generally be aware that it's about knowledge. Especially detailed knowledge, like how things work and why. Accordingly, it's primarily a theoretical education.
For example: The goal of your studies isn't to be able to grow cell cultures. Sure, you'll learn how to do it and may even repeat it countless times in your thesis, but this skill is usually the responsibility of lab assistants. As a graduate, you're the one who, based on the biochemical processes taking place, has to consider which nutrient solution to use for these cells and why, in this case, the cells don't want to adhere to the cell culture flask.
If that's okay with you, you can definitely study biology/microbiology. It's definitely an interesting course of study!
Here's a tip: Visit the degree program websites of a few universities and look at the curriculum and module handbooks. This will give you an idea of the topics covered in each course.
Otherwise, you can also adjust your choice of university a bit: If you go to a university of applied sciences, the entire program is more application-oriented, meaning there's always the question of what you can do with the knowledge. You'll also often already have contacts in industry and potential jobs. At university, the theory is often more in-depth and often "just so you know."
As for future jobs, you have to look a bit to see what you're familiar with and what kind of positions are currently available. That could be, for example, maintaining yeast cultures at a large brewery company 😉
Side note: Your keyboard seems to be broken.
Do yourself and me a favor and take this test. At least start taking it. Until now, I thought it could tell anyone their career path. I don't know if that's the case for students. Please let me know if the test is suitable for everyone.

The results are the careers that are suitable for the person taking the test. I never studied, but the test gave me my career. So if it's suitable for students, then it will give you your career, too. So please take the test.
