So I am applying for a mini-job as a student and I don't quite understand this gap

This is in case you currently have a job that you have yet to quit. It usually takes four weeks or more before you can start the new position.

I stated 7 weeks there, so I thought it meant that I would work for another 7 weeks after the termination so that they would have enough time to find a replacement

No, that's not what I mean. If you quit or are fired, there are usually set times for how long you have to work.
