What should I call this?
Hi, I'm currently writing a fantasy story featuring an academy. The characters live there from childhood. There are various "blocks," similar to classes, for which I need names. Things like junior, senior, etc. are just too boring for me. The following "blocks" exist:
0-5 year olds i.e. toddlers
5-12 year old practical primary school students
12-17 year olds practical secondary school
17-21 year olds in training
It would be really nice if you had some original names.

I’d think of a fantasy word. That makes the whole thing special. Something you don’t get so easy. For the smallest, maybe a little two-silver with a sweetening form. Then a little three-silver. In the end, something that can have a lot of Latin meaning, such as Pugnator (fighter), Amor (love) or Falcon (Falke)
The idea with the belts or the like can be combined with it.
Do not stop with different names that the reader has to learn as with a foreign language. You should invent these words yourself and it would always be stumbling stones for the reader.
Let the students just rise from one color to the next, as with the Judo with the different colored belts. The reader can capture and understand this very quickly.
Start with white and then look for a sequence. Let the students be proud of their colors and their ascent.
You can simply call “step” and number it, everyone understands it. Or numbering the stages on Latin: prima, sekunda… (where this could be misleading, because it’s different in our school system.)
For the first=junior, firstborn
Two. pupils, trainees
3. Teens, warriors
4. Warriors, Elite
Are basically good ideas. But there are different “Occupations” warriors is one of them
Firstborns are always only the first children of a family. This is not true.
“Firstlings”…?

The whole thing goes as birds or fish.
That could be a problem. Since in my history there are wolf-shape converters, vampires, magicians, necromants and cat-capacule converters…😅
