What period does this come from?
I'm currently labeling books about zoos.
The following scenes were shown.
-A ride on elephant back
-Petting zoo with lion cubs and tiger cubs
-Monkeys in human clothes.
-Camel ride
-Guards wear uniforms
I estimate between at least 30s -60s
.
I find some things very questionable
Guards in uniform sounds very much like the 30s/40s or even earlier.
The easiest way is to use the people's clothing as a guide, and the older the photo, the grainier the image sometimes appears. By that, I mean the gradations between black and white are coarser.
I also remember camel rides. My grandparents took me to the Geiselwind amusement park back then. That must have been around 1988/89.
Unfortunately, in some countries there are still such questionable shows etc. A photo and where exactly it was would be helpful.
For example, in Cambodia, there's this Safari World that features almost exclusively animal shows. The elephants, for example, are chained up almost all day, and only briefly removed for these rather questionable shows. The conditions for the other species aren't good either. The monkeys, big cats, and parrots don't exactly have nice cages. There are videos by Tobias Dornbusch on YouTube.
I vividly remember riding an elephant at the San Diego Zoo as a child in the summer of '88. They also offered camel rides.
One clue would be people's clothing and hairstyles, as well as whether the photos are in color or black and white.
Sind s-w
Well, that could also be because they're copies, of course. So, it's better to go by the people you see there.
Could you share a photo? Depending on which country the photos are from, it could be anything!
