What is Wattpad useful for?

Hey, I generally enjoy writing stories. That's why I came across Wattpad. However, I'm wondering why the app is supposed to help us writers. What are the benefits of this app/website? Is there any benefit to publishing your own stories there?

The thing is, there's always something of the author in the stories. And I wonder if it's worth making the stories public there.

If you only write your stories for yourself, it doesn’t make any sense to publish them on Wattpad.

But most hobby writers who write stories are happy when other people read these stories when they get feedback, exchange with other hobby writers and gather first experiences as author.
Wattpad is very suitable for this.

Alternatives are e.g.
– Fanfiction
– Beletristica
– Storyban

Financially, of course, it doesn’t pay.
As a hobby author, earn money with self-written books, which is basically very difficult and that succeeds only relatively few hobby authors.
It would be more suitable for self-publishing, but it is also very difficult to find readers/buyers who pay money for the books/eBooks.

If you have a lot of time, Wattpad is good. However, you have to give everything there to get out of the crowd.

  • regularly update
  • write good cover, folder text and history
  • do not make (or hardly) errors in grammar / spelling
  • read other stories, comment, vote
  • To establish and maintain contacts ohen mutual support will not
  • join awards, clubs and book reviews / sign up
  • good tags

If you don’t want to invest so much time, you should go to Storyban. There everything is a bit more structured, because there are not yet many users who are registered.
The books are subjected to an examination and deleted in case they do not meet the requirements. That’s a lot of garbage. A lot more books are presented at the start page than at Wattpad. Also the latest books. Not only popular.

Nevertheless, you generally have to be willing to have a lot of time for your stories and be active to get to more readers. This is simpler and less time-consuming at Storyban than at Wattpad. In my opinion.

It is primarily a social network. It is about building relationships with other users and thus supporting each other.

The quality of the works is more than irrelevant. Therefore, criticism from which one can learn something, also largely within limits. So to improve you, it is definitely the wrong side.

If you're good at networking, you can gain the impression of being a talented author. No matter what redness you should do.

To get criticism, you should explicitly ask for it. Here on the portal, for example.

Storyban. There’s a quality control. I’m active on both sides.

Unfortunately no. Wattpad is probably the largest such page in German-speaking countries.

You could try it through Facebook groups, but I’m almost afraid they’re pretty dead because many users move to Wattpad.

As your own answer or your answer? Then I’ll check in, thank you.

I just made a contribution to this. That should answer that question. If not, please ask me.

Interesting. And is it about networking, or is it really about the quality of the stories? With regard to their acquaintance.

The admins of the page carefully examine the stories.

A quality control by whom?

It’s not financial because you don’t usually get any money for it. However, it has advantages:

1. Feedback: Especially fresh authors are often very uncertain how good their history is and how others find it. If you receive comments there, you can find out about as many different people as possible.

Two. Attention and thus motivational boost: If you only write for yourself, you get absolutely nothing for work. So, for a long time, you have to put in a lot of work in order to have something in the future. On the websites you can publish it quickly and get back a reward so much faster, for which you have the more motivation to write at the end.

However, Wattpad is unfortunately not the best side. Better are:
