What is the worst song from the eighties for you?

The eighties had many good songs, some of which rightly achieved cult status.

But there are certainly some that weren't so good.

I would be interested to know what you think is the worst or most horrible song from that time.

For me, the worst was Opus – Live is life. It must have been high in the charts back then, but it was unbearable for me.

Curiously, I also know a bunch of people who love this song and comfort you when you’re sad. Fully counterproductive !^^

Oh, great fun. NDW is really special. There are really bad things, but also really good things. 😊

With “Live Is Life” I am also for a ban on playing and broadcasting.

The joke on this live recording: It should be played as a new piece at a concert and recorded at the same time. The audience didn’t know the song yet. But some Honk screwed up the recording, and that’s why the band played the piece as “addition” a second time so that the part still got on the tape.
It’s a shame, you could’ve missed it.

But also not to despise: Last Christmas
Every year, the shit is played million times on the radio. It’s not even a Christmas song.

Opus was an Austrian band, the song may be annoying in the long run, but I can’t find it really bad. That’s at least mood music. Dieter Bohlen actually goes.

What I find unpleasant are many percussions and folk stuff, because the 80s were often particularly bad, exemplarily I call “Arrivederci Claire” from the actually sympathetic Andy Borg. The song is just bad, I think.

In addition, such typical songs, which have been heard too often on the radio for decades, are so eagerly softeners from the early 80s. Even “99 balloons” I find only exhausting and even if Albano Carrisi is a first-class singer: “Felicita” is annoying and is such a candidate where I turn off the radio.

Some songs from them are great, so from 1987 and “Makassar”, they had other producers. But that was just too cheesy from the sound.

Since Da von Trio is so bad that he is unfortunately already cult…

The worst for me is Last Christmas by Wham, just followed by Cherie, Cherie Lady by Modern Talking.

Bird of the night of Stephan Remmler solo is even more cruel.

The distorted voice has caused fear to me as a student.

Stephan Remmler on the success of Trio: “Art is to fall below a level people assume that you don’t have it anyway.”

Minimalism and wickedness at the same time. Sometimes it gets rewarded.

That was Remmler solo, he distorted his own voice.

I remember a video of the song with a colored background singer who moved the lips to the distorted voice, that was very funny.

I find everything from Modern Talking and other things from Dieter Bohlen the worst. You don’t need to call a song, because it sounds the same anyway. I wonder how Bohlen only managed to fill countless albums with a song.

Opus, Wham, NDW… “Swan King” by Karat, “When I continued…”

At that time it was also made of stick, aitken, waterman “Stop Aitken-Waterman!”
